White Wine FAQs
What low calorie white wines does DrinkWell stock?
We stock more than 50 low calorie white wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Viognier, and more. All wines in our collection are full-strength and selected for flavour first — the lower calorie count is a result of lower residual sugar, not lower ABV or any artificial intervention. Browse by grape variety using the links at the top of this page, or explore our white wine cases if you'd like to try a selection.
What is low calorie white wine?
Low calorie white wine is wine that contains fewer calories per serving than a standard bottle — typically under 85 calories per 125ml glass, compared to around 100–120 calories in a typical supermarket white. The reduction in calories usually comes from lower residual sugar, which is left over after fermentation. Many of our whites contain 0g of sugar per serving, making them genuinely low sugar white wines rather than simply lighter in alcohol.
What is the lowest calorie white wine at DrinkWell?
Our TRACES Sauvignon Blanc comes in at just 78 calories per 125ml glass, with 0g of sugar and 11% ABV. It's our own-label wine, developed in-house and award-winning — and at £9.99 a bottle it's exceptional value. Several other whites in our collection sit in the 76–83 calorie range, including our Pinot Grigios from Italy. You can find the full calorie count on every product page.
Are your white wines low sugar?
Yes. The vast majority of white wines in our collection contain 0g of sugar per 125ml serving. This is because they are dry wines with minimal residual sugar — the natural sugars from the grapes are almost entirely converted to alcohol during fermentation. If you're specifically looking for low sugar white wine or zero sugar white wine, you're in the right place. You can also browse our dedicated low sugar wine collection for a filtered view across all styles.
What is the difference between low calorie and low sugar white wine?
The two are closely linked but not identical. Sugar contributes roughly 4 calories per gram, so a wine with 0g of residual sugar will naturally be lower in calories. However, the main driver of calories in wine is alcohol — alcohol contains around 7 calories per gram. So a dry wine with 0g sugar but higher ABV can still contain more calories than a wine with slightly more sugar but lower ABV. At DrinkWell we focus on wines that strike the best balance: low in both sugar and calories, without sacrificing flavour or dropping below full-strength ABV.
How many calories are in a bottle of white wine?
According to Drinkaware, a standard 175ml glass of 13% ABV white wine contains around 159 calories, which works out at approximately 667 calories per 750ml bottle. By contrast, most white wines in the DrinkWell range come in at under 500 calories per bottle, with several closer to 400. If you're watching your intake, our low calorie whites offer a meaningful difference without you having to switch to lower-ABV or alcohol-free alternatives.
Are your white wines vegan and gluten-free?
Most of the white wines in our collection are suitable for vegans and are naturally gluten-free. Traditional winemaking can involve animal-derived fining agents such as isinglass or egg whites, but we prioritise vegan-friendly production across our range. Every product page confirms the vegan and gluten-free status of that specific wine, or you can browse our vegan wine collection and gluten-free wine collection directly.
Which white wines are suitable for a keto diet?
A wine is generally considered keto-friendly if it contains less than 1g of residual sugar per serving and is relatively low in carbohydrates. The majority of our white wine range qualifies — particularly our dry Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Grigios, which contain 0g of sugar per 125ml glass. Browse our keto wine collection for a fully filtered view of whites, reds, and rosés that fit a low-carb lifestyle.
What type of white wine has the fewest calories?
Dry white wines — particularly those with lower ABV — tend to be the lowest in calories. Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc are generally among the lightest options, with many examples in our range sitting between 76 and 85 calories per 125ml glass. Sweeter styles such as Riesling or late-harvest whites contain more residual sugar and therefore more calories. Chardonnay varies considerably depending on winemaking style — oaked, full-bodied examples tend to be higher in calories, while unoaked or lighter styles can be comparably low.
How should I store white wine once opened?
Re-seal the bottle with its original cork or a wine stopper and store it in the fridge. Most white wines will stay fresh for three to five days once opened. Lighter, lower-ABV whites such as Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc tend to hold up well over a few days, while fuller-bodied or oaked whites are best consumed within two to three days. If you want to extend the life of an opened bottle, a vacuum wine pump can help slow oxidation.
