Product Details

Virgen de las Viñas is based in the up-and-coming region of Castilla la-Mancha and was founded in 1961 when 15 families joined forces to build a better future by focusing on producing quality wines from the region. Since the 1990s, La- Mancha has undergone dramatic change, with significant investment in transforming the arid landscape of the Meseta- the high plateau south of Madrid. Virgen de las Viñas encompasses over 3,000 growers covering 25,000 hectares of prime vineyard, making it a leader in the vine-growing area of Castilla la-Mancha. In the winery, it combines traditional production methods with cutting edge technical innovations. The striking duo of ‘El Concierto’ wines are packed with vibrant fruit flavours and offer excellent value for money.

The grapes come from the Castilian plain, which is situated at 650 metres above sea level in Central Spain. The climate is continental, typical of the interior of the Iberian Peninsula, which is generally dry, receiving around 300 to 400mm of rain per year and enjoying over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. The temperatures can fluctuate between average summer maximum temperatures of 26°C - which can reach up to 45°C on the hottest of summer days- dropping to -5°C in the winter. The soils are
predominantly sandy loam in texture with limestone layers. The soils are very porous and permeable, which together with the climatic conditions produce quality fruit with excellent ripeness levels.

The grapes were gently pressed to produce the must which was clarified prior to vinification. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures to retain the purity of fruit and varietal characteristics. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks to maintain freshness.
